We’d like you all to warmly welcome Lauren Faust to the team: Some even gooder news is that we have a new member in the Mane6 family…
The good news is that the game is not dead! Here’s the official news via Shoryuken:įirst, the bad news: We’ve tried a few different ways of talking to Hasbro about getting special permission to continue the game, but it seems that is officially a dead end, and it’s time for us to move on. And they’ll have some help from Lauren Faust, who happens to be the creator of the show, to get it done. The fellas over at Main6 have confirmed that while they won’t be pitting Twilight Sparkle and Applejack in a fight to the death, they’ll be doing it with original characters instead, as Hasbro doesn’t exactly own a monopoly on anthropomorphic child horses. But everypony (gah) knows that you can’t keep a good game down. Hasbro was having none of that though, and legalesed the hell out of them. That’s what happened to Mane6, as they were developing their own game of Steed Fighter, which would have starred the ponies. When you take a show beloved by children and really creepy older men, and fine-tune it into a game that is less about camaraderie, and more about the violence, it’s only a matter of time before the lawyers get their hands on you.
